Our Journey: How God Gathered Us

Forty years ago several pioneers of the space program met with Reverend Leroy P. Gwaltney to consider organizing a Presbyterian church just south of Patrick Air Force Base.  That meeting was a catalyst for the first services that were held at the local synagogue while land was purchased as the site for a permanent church.  Trinity Presbyterian Church was chartered with approximately 26 founding families on May 22, 1962.  Services soon relocated from the synagogue to Trinity’s temporary home, a panelfab  building – a unique structure for its day – with papercore walls and roof.  In just two years, ground was broken for a permanent structure and on September 13, 1964, the first worship service was held in what is now the site of the fellowship hall.
